The Step-by-Step Process
9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
College of Lake County
Vernon Hills, Illinois

If you have a book that you want published, be it a memoir, a history, a novel of any kind, or a collection of poems, you have three publishing choices: traditional publishing, vanity publishing, or self-publishing through one of the new web-site programs. This presentation gives a brief overview of the role of traditional publishers and vanity publishers. The bulk of time is spent on Amazon's self-publishing program, CreateSpace, its pluses and minuses. The slide presentation depicts the real-life, step-by-step process of publishing a book through CreateSpace, from signing on and setting up an account; to making decisions on page layout, type face, and cover design; to submitting and proofreading; and, finally to publication of the book. NOTE: This program shows you how to publish a tangible, physical, hold-in-your hand book, not an ebook. Also note: this program does not tell you how to publish an illustrated book such as a children's book or a graphics book. College of Lake County, 1120 South Milwaukee Avenue, Vernon Hills, Illinois.
